The District is accepting applications for the Director - Facilities & Construction. BASIC FUNCTION: Under the supervision of the Chief Business Official, plan, organize and direct operations and activities involved in the design, construction, implementation and completion of the District’s bond program, facility construction, renovation and repair projects; coordinate and direct communications, personnel and resources to meet District needs and assure proper and timely completion of construction and renovation activities; and train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, public administration or related discipline and five years of progressively responsible experience in facility management and the construction industry as lead construction project manager or similar, or facilities director for large-scale facilities. TO BE CONSIDERED THE FOLLOWING MUST BE SUBMITTED: Resume Three (3) Letters of recommendations Please attach to your application packet. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Plan, control, and direct the facility bond measure, construction and modernization projects and all other facilities projects in collaboration with District administration, staff, architects, contractors, and other consultants, and vendors. Direct the design, adoption and implementation of District energy efficiency projects including solar, energy management, and utility upgrades projects. Direct work related to the planning, implementation and monitoring of new construction projects; prepare and provide construction project descriptions, scope and specifications for architects, contractors and maintenance personnel. Develop and plan projects requiring review or approval from the Board of Trustees, Division of the State Architect, Superintendent’s Office, Department of Toxic Substances Control or others.

SELECTION PROCEDURE: Individuals interested in employment are asked to describe any training, education, experience, or skills relevant to this position. The process will begin with the competitive screening of qualified applicants. Qualified applicants will be invited to participate in a written, oral, and/or practical examination. Successful candidates will be ranked on an eligibility list according to the examination score. Final selection will then be made in accordance with Merit System rules from the established eligibility list. Fingerprinting and criminal record checks will be done on all prospective employees. KNOWLEDGE OF: Principles and practices of administration, including office and personnel management and budgetary practices. Working methods and procedures used in the building trades. Laws and regulations pertaining to the construction and repair of school facilities. Principles and practices of administration, supervision and training. Management skills to direct and organize individuals and crews. Construction and modernization project management. Laws, rules and regulations related to assigned activities, including but not limited to: AHERA, ADA, CAL-OSHA, California Public Contract Code. The District offers several options for Medical benefits—SISC Blue Shield, SISC Anthem Blue Cross and Kaiser; three Delta Dental plan options; and Vision Care--Vision Service Plan (VSP) for employee and dependents, Life Insurance, Long Term Disability and sick leave coverage for employee only. Classified employees are required to join the Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS) and as such contribute up to 7% of their monthly salary to PERS on a pre-tax basis. ADDITIONAL EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION Employment with the Pajaro Valley Unified School District is not complete or official until applicants meet all pre-employment requirements, including Board of Trustee approval. As part of the selection process, all new employees are required to provide the following information: new employees must be fingerprinted (paid by the District); TB test (paid by the employee); social security card; picture identification; and authorization to work (I-9). PAY DAYS: Permanent employees are paid on the last working day of each month. PROBATION AND SALARY POLICY: Management positions have a one-year probationary period. New employees typically start on the first step. Additional step increases occur yearly thereafter until the seventh salary step is achieved. Employees who work less than twelve (12) months per year and/or eight (8) hours per day are advised that they should calculate their pay rate on an hourly basis and/or refer to daily rates on the management salary schedule.
