Santa Rosa City Schools INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS TECHNICIAN (Elementary) BASIC FUNCTION: Under direction of the principal and the Director of School Services Area A and Area B, operate School Resource Center; provide textbooks and other instructional materials to teachers and test new students for math and reading placement. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: 1. Order, receive and store textbooks and other instructional materials, supplies and equipment. 2. Distribute and collect textbooks as requested by teacher; prepare and maintain circulation records and reports; check material in and out of Center. 3. Assist teachers, instructional aides and students in the use of the Resource Center facilities. 4. Operate a wide variety of equipment such as projectors, tape recorders, phonographs, duplicating machines and a seal laminating press. 5. Prepare, develop and reproduce learning materials; prepare bulletin boards. 6. Administer and score math and reading placement tests for new students. 7. Perform a variety of clerical duties including typing, preparing correspondence and duplicating of materials. 8. Catalogue and prepare new materials for checkout; repair textbooks and other materials as necessary. 9. Prepare and maintain inventory and budget records and reports. 10. Perform related duties as assigned. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES: KNOWLEDGE OF: Methods of organizing and handling a variety of materials, general clerical methods of office machine operations; common classroom procedures and practices; basic math. ABILITY TO: Type accurately; understand and carry out oral and written instructions; demonstrate oral and written communications skills; work independently with little supervision; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with teachers, students, and others contacted in the course of work. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school and one year of clerical or Instructional Aid experience.
