Job Summary

Job Description: Under direct supervision of the school Principal, implements the curriculum for special education learning center. Essential Job Tasks: 1. Provides specialized instruction to pupils to meet the goals and objectives as developed in the Individualized Education Program (IEP). 2. Assesses individual students to determine present levels of performance. 3. Participates as a member of the IEP team. 4. Implements the IEP with appropriate lesson plans, materials, and classroom strategies, and prepares Individualized Education programs. 5. Uses effective behavior management techniques to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom 6. Prepares schedules and timelines to implement classroom activities. 7. Observes and makes ongoing evaluation of pupil’s academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, prepares progress reports, and communicates with parents on the individual pupil’s progress. 8. Cooperates with other professional staff members in helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems. 9. Mainstreams children into integrated settings for maximum interaction with peers. 10. Creates a functional and attractive environment for learning through room displays, bulletin board, and interest centers. 11. Plans and coordinates the work of instructional aides. 12.
