The Accelerated School (TAS) seeks an Office Manager and Parent Liaison to join an expanding team of professionals that are making a positive difference in the lives of TAS students and the community. With the support of the Los Angeles Unified School District, TAS was founded by LAUSD Teachers Kevin Sved and Johnathan Williams who share a vision that all children can achieve and that education is essential to a prosperous, fulfilling life and the regeneration of our communities. TAS is the first school in the nation to combine the best of the charter school and accelerated school philosophies, practices and standards to become a national model for school reform. This is a confidential/supervisory position and is classified as exempt. Responsibilities and Duties: Office Manager Performs a variety of staff duties to relieve an administrator of details relative to clerical procedures and methods or other areas of the business operations of the organization. Plans, organizes, directs, and reviews a variety of clerical activities and exercises independent judgment in making decisions pertaining to the Main Office. Fosters a positive and welcoming atmosphere at the Main Office. Responsibilities -Staff attendance(attendance cards, time sheets, leaving early form, daily attendance email) -Coordinating school events and activities(need specifics from principals) -Scheduling school facilities usage -Maintaining the master calendar -Clerical services(answering phones, copying, distributing communications, typing and computer use) -Provides accurate and timely communication to all school stakeholders. Acts as a liaison between schools(The Accelerated School, Wallis Annenberg High School) and departments. Dispenses pertinent information and direction to students, parents, staff, and visitors -Plans, organizes, and reviews the work of clerical staff engaged in the preparation of a variety of communications -Oversees processing of supply requests -Translates various forms of communication -Arranges substitute coverage -Collaborates with administrators regarding forms that will be useful to streamline office procedures -Welcoming and directing visitors to the appropriate department/person -Supervises and supports the office staff who help support these functions Parent Liaison Facilitates and strengthens communication between families and the school community by collecting and disseminating important information. Identifies parent leaders and provides numerous ways for parents/guardians to support the school’s effort for the academic achievement of their children. Responsibilities -Weekly parent reminder -Provide opportunities to engage parents in meaningful volunteering opportunities -Creating partnerships to provide classes/workshops for parents -Parent meetings(translation, scheduling, distribute communications, collaborate with Administrator(s) for meetings) -Collaborate with LA’s Best and supervision team to provide childcare during parent meetings -Recordkeeping of volunteer hours and meeting attendance -Supervises office staff and parent volunteers who help support these functions Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: -Ability to read, write and speak in both English and Spanish in a professional setting -Knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and idioms used both in English and Spanish -Computer literate -Basic clerical skills such as answering phones and operating office machines -Excellent customer service skills; must have a courteous and positive attitude -Ability to work with others as a team -Great multitasking and organizational skills
