JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

Under direct supervision of the Site Administrator to assist school staff in the safety and well being of students during noon-time eating and playground activity. Through meaningful playground and lunch room supervision to enable students to safely enjoy group interaction and exercise. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Supervise students at play and during eating time
  2. Maintain a harmonious atmosphere in eating and play area
  3. Guides student s in developing good habits of sportsmanship
  4. Encourage and promote courtesy among children
  5. Support and uphold school site safety and discipline rules and expectations
  6. Assist students in resolving minor conflicts on the playground
  7. Report concerns of dangerous situations and/or accidents to the site principal or other appropriate person of authority
  8. Perform related duties as assigned

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education

High School diploma or equivalent

Experience

Experience in working with school-age students in a summer camp and/or after school setting

 

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Safety rules and habits
  • Ability to work well with children
  • Understand, implement, and give oral and written directions in English
  • Communicate effectively with a wide variety of personalities
  • Maintain cooperative relationships with both children and adults in the course of duties
  • Work with groups and individuals in supporting a safe and fun school environment

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:


Part time - hourly

Follows regular school-year calendar

Salary to be according to the current classified hourly schedule

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the District's policies and procedures

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS;

 

While performing the essential functions and responsibilities of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms and speak effectively. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
