All teachers at WISH will be required to hold a Commission on Teacher Credentialing Certificate, permit, or other document that would satisfy School District requirements. All core subject teachers will be “highly qualified” as that term is defined under the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), and further defined by California state regulations implementing the NCLB requirements, unless such requirements are not deemed by the federal or state government to apply to charter schools such as WISH.
Qualifications
Teachers at WISH will be expected to be knowledgeable about child development and have experience working collaboratively. Co-teaching experience will be highly desirable. Other qualifications will include:
- A bachelor’s degree;
- A California multiple subject credential or university intern permit (for no more than three years while actively working toward completion of a state credential);
- In the case of special education teachers, a California special education teaching credential;
- CLAD or BCLAD certificates;
- Demonstrated subject competence through appropriate examination or coursework;
- Background clearance from FBI/DOJ
- TB clearance
- A commitment to collaborative team teaching in an inclusive educational environment, including participating in twice-weekly debriefing and collaborative planning sessions
- A commitment to train in the various curricular programs and methods implemented at WISH.
Responsibilities
Teachers will be responsible for implementing the WISH educational program in their classrooms. They must coordinate their planning and instruction with their teaching partner, and work collaboratively with the Principal, Curriculum Developer, and the Interventionists. Teachers will design assessments, evaluate assessment results and adjust their instruction based upon these results. Teachers will need to follow and enforce WISH policies such as those relating to attendance reporting, at-risk identification and intervention, and positive behavior support procedures.

Co-teaching experience will be highly desirable. PLTW training a plus but we will provide PLTW training to the successful candidate if needed.
