THE POSITION: The job of Receptionist is done for the purpose/s of greeting and directing visitors, responding to inquiries from staff and individuals visiting Alameda County Office of Education; providing requested information and/or referral to other parties; and, when time permits, providing general clerical support to site administrators. An eligibility list will be established for temporary on-call work assignments during absences in the receptionist position on an as-needed basis. Shifts: 8:00a.m. - 12:30p.m. OR 12:30 p.m. - 5:00p.m. TYPICAL DUTIES: Answers the telephone system for the purpose of responding to inquiries, transferring calls, and/or taking messages. Greets individuals entering the building, assessing (e.g. visitors) for the purpose of responding to inquiries and/or directing individuals to appropriate location in accordance with established building security procedures. Maintains building information (e.g. schedules, emergency contacts) for the purpose of providing reference information. Performs general clerical functions (e.g. scheduling, copying, data entry) for the purpose of supporting Superintendent's Office, Communications Department as well as operations and events. Processes prepares and enters data in the computer for the purpose of ensuring accurate information is being provided. Receives a variety of items for the purpose of distributing materials to appropriate parties. Responds to emergency calls for the purpose of notifying appropriate parties to address immediate safety and/or security issues. Tracks temporary access badges of employees and vendors for the purpose of ensuring that ACOE visitors are properly identified and access to offices is controlled.

QUALIFICATIONS Experience: One year related experience in reception or clerical duties with public contact. Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Equivalency: Equivalent combination of education and experience. LOCATION: 313 W.
