About the Employer

The Merced County Office of Education assists Merced County’s 20 school districts through support and oversight of curriculum and instruction, alternative education, business services, early education, technology, migrant education, special education, and teacher credentialing. MCOE is led by the elected Merced County Superintendent of Schools and governed by the Merced County Board of Education. While serving as a focal point to facilitate local school/government/community partnerships, MCOE is responsible for the fiscal oversight of each school district in Merced County, hears appeals for student expulsion hearings and interdistrict transfers and operates Green Meadows Outdoor School.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: The position requires an Associate’s degree (or the equivalent of 60 units) and one year of progressive experience in an educational, vocational, or workforce development program. May require competency in a second language. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: The position requires a working knowledge of educational and vocational assessment, job development and placement based on aligning client interests, aptitudes, and experiences with employers’ needs, and labor market trends and employment opportunities. Requires working knowledge of publicly funded job search and training programs. Requires demonstrated skills at using a personal computer for word processing, tabulating data on spreadsheets, accessing and entering data onto relational databases, verifying numerical and demographic information, and entering information onto established data entry screens. Requires sufficient math skills to compute sums, averages, products, and quotients. Requires sufficient human relation skills to convey technical concepts to others, to deal with sensitive and confidential information, to give instructions and training, and to facilitate discussions in individual and small group settings. Requires language, grammar, and writing skill to prepare professional correspondence, position advertisements, and informational brochures. LICENSES/and CERTIFICATES: Requires a valid driver’s license.
