About the Employer

We are a unified school district serving more than 16,150 students in grades K -12. We have thirteen elementary schools, four middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, three specialized high schools, two alternative high schools and one K-8 school. We also offer a home schooling program, adult education courses and other unique programs to fit the needs of all students. Our school district employs approximately 1,100 certificated and nearly 900 classified employees. Antioch Unified School District is centrally located in the East Bay and provides ready access to scenic mountains, waterfronts, wine country, historical sites and the Pacific Ocean. Antioch is known as the “Gateway to the Delta” and is one of California’s oldest cities, with a diverse community of approximately 100,000. The Antioch Unified School District is a Merit System District. As such, final selection of our classified staff members will be made from candidates who have been placed on an eligibility list. Eligibility is determined via an evaluation and competitive screening/scoring of a candidate’s training and experience as demonstrated on the application and responses provided in the supplemental questions.

BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Director-Maintenance Operations and Transportation, perform a variety of duties involved in the review, processing and verification of facility use permits for the District; maintain facility use calendar, input permit and work order data, and prepare and maintain related records and reports.

KNOWLEDGE OF: Terminology, practices and procedures related to facility use functions, modern office practices, procedures and equipment, telephone techniques and etiquette, record-keeping and filing techniques, business letter and report writing, editing and proofreading, correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary, data control procedures and data entry operations, interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy, oral and written communication skills, operation a computer and assigned software, mathematic calculations (see job description for full details). EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and three years clerical or secretarial experience involving frequent public contact. EXAMINATIONS: The selection process will consist of a competitive application screening for completeness and minimum qualifications. A written exam (weighted 40%) and an oral interview exam (weighted 60%) will be conducted. A passing score must be achieved on each portion of the exams. Final selection will be made from those who achieve the three highest ranking scores.
