About the Employer

We are a unified school district serving more than 16,150 students in grades K -12. We have thirteen elementary schools, four middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, three specialized high schools, two alternative high schools and one K-8 school. We also offer a home schooling program, adult education courses and other unique programs to fit the needs of all students. Our school district employs approximately 1,100 certificated and nearly 900 classified employees. Antioch Unified School District is centrally located in the East Bay and provides ready access to scenic mountains, waterfronts, wine country, historical sites and the Pacific Ocean. Antioch is known as the “Gateway to the Delta” and is one of California’s oldest cities, with a diverse community of approximately 100,000. Basic Function: Under the direction of the Manager-Benefits or its designee, perform a variety of technical duties in support of employee benefits programs including enrollment, orientation, Workers’ Compensation and record-keeping functions; serve as a technical resource and liaison concerning employee benefits.

Knowledge of: General methods, practices, terminology and procedures used in benefits administration, employee benefit packages and insurance programs, employee benefits enrollment practices and procedures, data control procedures and data entry operations, interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy, record-keeping and filing techniques, oral and written communications skills, correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary, modern office practices, procedures and equipment, operation of a computer and assigned software, mathematic computations. Ability to: Perform a variety of technical duties in support of employee benefits programs including enrollment, orientation, Workers’ Compensation and record-keeping functions (see attached job description for full details). Education and Experience: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and two years payroll, employee benefits or related experience. EXAMINATIONS: The selection process will consist of a competitive application screening for completeness and minimum qualifications. A written exam (weighted 60%) and an oral interview exam (weighted 40%) will be conducted. A passing score must be achieved on each portion of the exams. Final selection will be made from those who achieve the three highest ranking scores.
