About the Employer

The Merced County Office of Education assists Merced County’s 20 school districts through support and oversight of curriculum and instruction, alternative education, business services, early education, technology, migrant education, special education, and teacher credentialing. MCOE is led by the elected Merced County Superintendent of Schools and governed by the Merced County Board of Education. While serving as a focal point to facilitate local school/government/community partnerships, MCOE is responsible for the fiscal oversight of each school district in Merced County, hears appeals for student expulsion hearings and interdistrict transfers and operates Green Meadows Outdoor School.

SUMMARY: Under general direction of the Coordinator, Special Education Department, the Behavior Analyst will instruct and monitor classroom teachers, assistants, and pertinent school personnel in the implementation of behavior programs which may include instructional strategies and techniques based on the principles of applied behavior analysis. This position will interact with parents, school district personnel and other pertinent professionals on a regular basis. This position is classified as Executive, Supervisory and/or Administrative pursuant to Education Code Section 45130 and thereby exempt from the classified bargaining unit and from overtime provisions of Education Code Sections 45127 and 45128. EDUCATION AND TRAINING: Masters Degree in Behavior Analysis or in a related field. Additional training in specific researched based autism methodologies and/or intervention, such as Discrete Trial, PECS, TEACCH, Social Stories and naturalistic/incidental teaching strategies is preferred. EXPERIENCE: Minimum of five years of experience providing educational programs and behavior plans for students with autism. Experience supervising educational programs and behavior plans for students with autism. Experience providing staff development training to classroom personnel is preferred. CREDENTIALS AND/OR SKILLS: Board Certification as a Behavior Analyst. Ability to understand and follow current guidelines regulating the implementation of behavior programming; Ability to demonstrate proficiency in oral and written communications/presentations.
