DEFINITION: Responsible for developing and implementing collaborative district wide programs to support student and family services. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: Develop and facilitate the process by which school sites develop a child and family centered approach to reducing the barriers to learning. Organize and facilitate meetings with staff, community based organizations, city and county services providers, interested private sector organizations, parents, and students to plan and implement support services for students and their families. Coordinate efforts among school sites to effectively address the needs of families and communities. Develop and coordinate district initiatives and site opportunities that will support and enhance student achievement. Develop and monitor budgets. Works with outside agencies, vendors and consultants; manages contracts with various agencies as required. Gather, analysis and document program related data. Participate in district-wide planning efforts to develop school-based and school-linked student support services. Direct and/or supervise staff. Work independently on complex assignments. Perform other related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Knowledge of and sensitivity to multi-cultural communities. 2. Familiarity with the full range of child and family services, including case management. 3. Knowledge of computer usage and ability to use word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and e-mail. 4. Ability to coordinate and facilitate large group meetings. 5. Ability to manage and coordinate large scale projects and initiatives. 6. Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of people of diverse backgrounds, including parents, students, service providers, school personnel, community representatives, and consultants. 7. Ability to perform various tasks simultaneously, demonstrate excellent organizational skills and meet schedules and time lines. 8. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. 9. Valid Drivers License. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 1. Any combination of education, training and experience equivalent to completion of a BA degree in Social Work, Public Health, Education, or related human services field. 2. Five years experience in community development and/or planning and organizing community events. 3. Three years experience coordinating school-linked programs. WORKING CONDITIONS: ENVIRONMENT: Office/School site environment. Work hours may vary and include weekends. PHYSICAL ABILITIES: Sitting and operating a keyboard to enter data into a computer terminal for extended periods of time; standing or walking for extended periods of time, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard; reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, kneeling or crouching and bending at the waist to retrieve materials from files or shelves; hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone; seeing to read; lifting light objects.
