Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Manager of the School-to-Work Transition Programs, the School-to-Work Specialists will plan and implement a program of career awareness/exploration, work-readiness skills, independent-living skills, and job-site development, job placement and post-placement support for youth with disabilities. The position assists youth in high school and/or transition programs and may continue providing transition services until the youth is successfully employed after high school.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • High School Diploma or equivalent; • Associate of Arts Degree desirable; • One (1) year of experience working with students with special needs and some professional experience performing work related to this position in an employment and training program, developing jobs or assisting others to determine career alternatives; or • One (1) year of experience working in an employment and training program doing professional level work related to this position along with some experience working with youth. Experience working with people with disabilities is desirable; • The ability to speak Spanish is preferred; • Meet district requirements for transporting students; no moving violations for two years on driving record; • Possess or obtain upon employment, a valid California Driver License; • Provide proof of automobile insurance; • Meet the physical requirements necessary to perform assigned duties safely and effectively, including lifting twenty-five (25) pounds on an occasional basis and in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds with assistance.
