California Advancing Pathways for Students is recruiting for a Career Technical Education (CTE) Heavy Construction Instructor. The position will be located at Somerset High School and it will begin Fall 2019. POSITION DESCRIPTION: The purpose of the Heavy Construction Instructor is to supervise and instruct students in the assigned area of vocational training and career development; to teach students entry-level employment skills for a career in the stated field; to establish and maintain an orderly, safe, and well-disciplined classroom learning environment; and to perform other job-related duties as assigned. EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent required. EXPERIENCE: Candidates must be able to verify three years (3,000 hours) of professional work experience in Heavy Construction, with at least one year of hands-on experience and recency of one year in the last five years, or two years within the last 10 years CERTIFICATES/CREDENTIALS/LICENSES: •Possession of, or ability to obtain during employment at CalAPS, a valid California Designated Subjects Vocational or Career Technical Education Teaching Credential for Building and Construction Trades is required.
