Job Summary
Job Summary
Acts as direct administrator of special education services for preschoolers, promoting the integration of these programs in County and District schools in the community and providing the effective transition of these children to elementary-level educational programs. Under general direction, employees in this classification make decisions of significant impact or consequence, using initiative and resourcefulness in interpreting established policies, goals and objectives. Employees in this classification assign, coordinate, supervise and formally evaluate the work of others.

QUALIFICATIONS: • Possession of a valid California Administrative Credential. • Master’s Degree in relative field is required. • Knowledge of community agencies serving infant/preschool children, laws affecting infant/preschool programs, preschool curriculum development, normal and atypical infant and preschool child development. Knowledge of learning, communicative, severely, and/or physically handicapped pupils; and/or programming for infant/preschool pupils. • Ability to plan, administer and evaluate early childhood special education programs within State and Federal law framework. • Ability to demonstrate strong leadership and supervisory skills. • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms. • Ability to organize time and resources so as to work effectively under pressure. • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties. • Administrative experience providing direct service to infants and or preschoolers with exceptional needs.
