          Cardinal Newman High School Theology Teacher Position Mission Cardinal Newman is a Catholic, college preparatory, coeducational high school. Our mission is to educate our students in the wholeness of mind, body, and spirit through the teachings of Jesus Christ as proclaimed by the Catholic Church. Our students learn to apply leadership skills and talents in service to others. We challenge each student to work to his or her highest potential in the lifelong pursuit of learning and excellence. Description/Essential Elements The Theology Department of Cardinal Newman High School seeks a teacher to plan, implement, and evaluate student learning in assigned teaching areas. Candidates should be skilled in assessing needs and creative in developing lessons, activities and projects that engage students in learning. Candidates need to be practicing Catholics, and have sufficient knowledge of Sacred Scripture and Catechism of the Catholic Church. Responsibilities - Model for students the mission and values of Cardinal Newman High School - Demonstrate subject matter competency and the ability to respond to the individual needs of students as learners - Devise a system of classroom order and discipline which contributes to an effective environment for learning - Be available to students who need assistance - Collaborate with colleagues in developing project based learning - Participate in professional development activities - Demonstrate resourcefulness and persistence in an ongoing effort to improve results - Participate in the service learning program Qualifications - Degree in Theology with a Single-Subject Teaching Credential preferred - Basic or Master Catechist certification preferred - Experience working with high school students preferred - Knowledge of the latest pedagogy and technology for effective classroom instruction - Excellent organizational and communication skills - Pastor’s letter of good standing Compensation Compensation is based on the individual’s level of experience and training. Cardinal Newman uses a Knowledge and Skill based pay program.
