The District’s boundaries encompass 1,250 square miles, including a large portion of El Dorado County’s historic Gold Rush region. The area includes about 40 communities along the Highway 50 corridor, including the towns of Placerville, El Dorado Hills, Cameron Park, Shingle Springs, Diamond Springs, Camino, and Pollock Pines. Agriculture, tourism, and light industry are the area’s primary industries. The community is served by Los Rios Community College District, Sierra Community College District, Cosumnes River Community College, California State University, Sacramento, and U.C. Davis. The District serves 6,650 students in grades 9 through 12 and is comprised of four comprehensive high schools, a charter school, a Regional Occupational Program, and a continuation school. The successful candidate will possess the skills, knowledge, and abilities to: • Collaborate with learning community members to establish and maintain comprehensive, coordinated school health plans, policies, and activities; • Engage in research and evaluation of school health services in order to act as a change agent for school health programs and school nursing practices; • Serve as a liaison health professional between the home, school and community and act as a resource person in promoting health careers; • Participate in the identification and assessment of students with learning challenges and assist with development and implementation of intervention strategies for students in need; • Conduct student health assessments; • Carry out or supervise mandated and other health screening programs, and counsel parents regarding indicated follow-up; • Promote and assist in the control of communicable diseases; • Assess and coordinate health and immunization records; • Provide specialized medical care and develop and disseminate procedures for administration of student medication at school; • Participate in emergency response planning and school safety efforts.
