Essential duties & responsibilities:

  • Provide a high quality educational program in Physical Education for WISH Charter Middle School students.
  • Ensure that Physical Education instruction is aligned with the Physical Education Model Content Standards for California Public Schools and/or the Physical Education Framework for California Public Schools, and exemplifies best practices.
  • Utilize personalized and differentiated instruction and supports to empower and inspire learners to reach their highest potential.
  • Establish a safe and inclusive culture of high expectations that embodies the shared belief that important academic, social, and ethical skills and attitudes are developed when students with various strengths, needs, and backgrounds learn together.
  • Collaborate and co-plan with teachers to develop and implement differentiated lesson plans and classroom activities aligned with Common Core State Standards, WISH Signature Practices and Instructional Guidelines, and to address diverse student needs.  Share best practices.
  • Coordinate and Administer required state physical fitness testing and submit all required documentation and/or records.
  • Communicate regularly with students and their families about classroom activities and student progress. Involve parents and guardians as partners in their students’ education.
  • Actively participate in professional development activities, including working closely with lead teachers, principal, and instructional coaches.
  • Support the Mission, Philosophy, and Core Tenets of WISH Charter Middle School.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Minimum educational level: • Bachelor's degree required • Valid California Single Subject Physical Education credential • English Language Learner Authorization preferred

Required knowledge, skills & abilities: • Knowledge of child cognitive development and various learning styles and modalities. • Knowledge of subject matter, including California State Standards; Common Core State Standards, and subject-specific frameworks. • Ability and willingness to implement WISH Instructional Guidelines; Practices, and Core Tenets. • Ability to collaborate with colleagues, parents and community.
