MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Credentials: Valid California Administrative Credential.
2. Experience: Five years successful experience in a paid certificated position, completion of three years of full time teaching experience in grades K-8th within the last ten years.
3. Education: Earned Masters or Doctoral Degree from an accredited institution.
4. Personal Qualifies: Appearance, grooming, and personality which establish a desirable example for pupils. Ability to meet district standards for physical and mental health. Must have proven ability to relate well with students, parents, administrators, and teachers. Must possess good judgment, knowledge of school and district policies, and ability to reinforce appropriate school behavior.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Successful administrative experience at K-5th or K-8th levels.
2. Knowledge of primary/elementary curriculum and administrative practices.

PRINCIPAL, ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

Under the direction and supervision of the Superintendent of Schools or designee, the principal serves as the educational leader and chief executive of the school; is responsible for the general operation of the school plant; participates in and coordinates staff and student activities; is responsible for the direction of the instructional program which is focused on fostering a strong academic program and teaching excellence: (1) a strong student behavior modification program, and (2) a committed parent involvement program component; and exercises leadership in the community.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Organizes and coordinates all phases of the educational program of the school in accordance with District policy.
2. Coordinate the planning, implementation and evaluation of the Curriculum offered in the school with a priority of student achievement and closing the achievement gap.
3. Supervise teacher’s professional growth in the individual school.
4. Works with administrators in the selection and use of instructional materials and equipment.
5. Supervises the operation of school buildings and grounds; supervises and coordinates the use of the school plant.
6. Supervises classroom testing and other appraisal of pupil accomplishment in the individual school.
7. Coordinate the school program and community relations in conjunction with the director.
8. Develops and administers the school budget.
9. Evaluates the work performance of all personnel in the school and makes recommendations for the continued employment, reassignment, or separation from service of the personnel assigned to the individual school.
10. Prepares an annual report and/or periodic reports as may be required, on the operation of the school.
11. Develops and implements a school level plan and organizational procedures for the health, safety, discipline and conduct of students.
12. Other duties as assigned.

• Walking, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, bending over, grasping, reaching overhead, pushing, pulling and moving, lifting and/or carrying 0-50 pounds to waist height.

HAZARDS:

• Potential for contact with bodily fluids, blood-borne pathogens, and communicable diseases;
• Exposure to anti-social behavior;
• Driving a vehicle during adverse weather conditions.

TECHNOLOGY STANDARD
Ravenswood City School District requires employees to have technology skills. E-mail, standard software usage and data entry are employment requirements. Advanced technical skills will be obtained through on-job training as needed.
