Job Description / Essential Elements:    Print   

DEFINITION: Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services, assist in the administration and supervision of all extended learning programs provided outside of the regular school day and school year in accordance with school district polices and in compliance with state and federal regulations. Train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the administration and supervision of extended learning programs in accordance with school district policies and in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Review and provide feedback for after school curriculum calendars; distribute to parents, site admin and after school staff.
  • Provide staff development, program development, parent communication and innovation of special methods and approaches to instruction and care.
  • Serve as a resource in the identification, selection and use of instructional materials, curriculum and methodologies.
  • Prepare all required reports of grant programs.
  • Participate and assist in the facilitation of extended learning leadership team meetings, conferences and in service training programs.
  • Work collaboratively with site and district personnel.
  • Addresses parent concerns regarding their child and extended learning program components.
  • Works directly with all site admin regarding facilities and related concerns.
  • Works with the bus supervisor for scheduling the transportation of students as needed.
  • Responsible for developing enrichment activities and hires instructors.
  • Monitor and review staff attendance logs. Evaluate staff performance in accordance with District policies and in collaboration with site admin.
  • Review staff time sheets. Submit time sheets to the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services for approval and the district office for payment.
  • Determine staff availability and staff schedules.
  • Organize field trips and assemblies including location, cost, transportation, permission slips and other matters.
  • Supervise the identification of substitutes to cover for staff as needed.
  • Addresses and assists in resolving staff concerns and grievances.
  • Develops and updates written staff policy guidelines.
  • Review staffs supply requests needed for the programs. Monitor expenses and conduct annual inventory of program materials.
  • Prepares and monitors program budgets.
  • Works with outside entities to negotiate contracts for services.
  • Prepares monthly finance and enrollment reports and submits to the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services.
  • Researches, develops, and administrates grant proposals to fund extended learning.
  • Develops a written marketing strategy for increasing student enrollment.
  • Creates program flyers, brochures, and announcements to parents/school staff to market activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of:

  • Basic needs and characteristics of school age children.
  • Curriculum planning, instructional techniques and strategies, organization and facilitating care in an after school program.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Applicable laws, codes and regulations, polices and procedures.
  • Computer applications for communication, research and data reporting.
  • Principles and methods of child development and management.
  • Proper evaluation methods.

Ability to:

  • Work evenings and up to six Saturdays.
  • Assist in the administration and supervision of the extended learning programs in accordance with school district policies and in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
  • Meet schedules and timelines.
  • Work independently with little direction.
  • Plan and organize work.
  • Prepare comprehensive narrative and statistical reports.
  • Direct, manage, train and evaluate the performance of assigned staff.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, parents, community members and others.
  • Conduct effective program evaluations.
  • Work confidentially with discretion.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • California Administrative credential

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
