Job Summary

The purpose of an EPIC Coach is to increase the quality and effectiveness of classroom instruction through coaching that promotes reflective thinking, increases the novice teacher’s instructional skills, facilitates the use of student data to mold instruction and increase student achievement, and promotes and encourages a life-long passion for learning and teaching.

REQUIRED MINIMUM TRAINING, EDUCATION, AND LICENSING 1. Clear Education Specialist or General Education (Single Subject or Multiples Subject Credential. 2. Three years of successful teaching experience with students in a special education or general education classroom 3. Ability to write proficient, objective, and data-driven reports. 4. Mastery of core competencies, including commitment to students, professionalism, interpersonal communication (oral, written, and electronic), organization, and problem solving. 5. Ability to mentor adults with respect and confidentiality. 6. Knowledge of, and the ability to help the teacher master the teacher performance expectations TPEs (Teaching Performance Expectations) and CSTPs (California Standards for the Teaching Profession) PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Establish and maintain a trustful and confidential relationship with EPIC interns and induction participating teachers 2. Serve as a peer mentor, provide opportunities for inter-visitation, model lessons, and confer with beginning teacher 3. Assist teachers in reflecting and analyzing their practice and reviewing student work to inform instruction and enhance student achievement 4. Act as a vehicle for EPIC interns and participating teachers to identify instructional resources and support throughout entire school community (including coaches, staff developers, assistant principals and principals) 5. Maintain and submit required documentation 6. Coordinate with district support providers at various school sites 7. Attend EPP trainings, orientations and other meetings.
