Education: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade Ability: Drive a school bus and other transportation equipment safely and efficiently, exercising sound judgement and extreme caution; maintain proper and positive control of student behavior on a school bus; keep records and prepare reports; understand and follow oral and written directions; be courteous , neat and clean at all times. Knowledge: Safe driving and defensive driving practices and techniques; California Motor Vehicle Code and Education Code applicable to the operation of school buses and pupil transportation; effective communication skills; pupil management skills. Licenses/Requirements: Valid Class “B” or better California Driver’s License with a Passenger Endorsement; Valid California Special Driver Certificate for School Bus; copy of current T-01 training record and a H-6 driver record printout (within past 10 days) to be submitted with application. Skills: Passing score on written, oral and driving test (test dates issued at a later date) * Permanent Bus Drivers are hired from within the Substitute Bus Driver pool. Contracted Bus Drivers are Range 20 on the pay scale (step 1 = $19.26/per hour - step 7 = $25.20/per hour)

Application to include a letter of intent, a current resume and 2 letters of reference (physically signed and dated within the past 3 years). Must have a current DL-51 medical certificate, possess a California Special Drivers Certificate.
