Job Summary

Job Summary

Fremont Adult and Continuing Education is looking for engaging, dynamic instructors to teach ESL. ESL teachers teach English to adult students whose first language is not English. Instruction includes skill building in the areas of reading, writing, listening, and speaking/pronunciation and in the context of helping students better access their community, prepare for post-secondary education, or prepare for a career. Classes may be single-level or multi-level depending on the site. This posting is for a part time, hourly evening position. Requirements: • Possession of a Multiple Subjects, Single Subject English, or Designated Subjects Adult Education (with authorization to teach English as a Second Language) credential. For credentialing information, please visit CCTC's website at www.ctc.ca.gov. • Ability to work 9-12 hours/week either during the afternoon and evening. • Attend scheduled staff meetings and other professional development as arranged in advance. • (Desired) Previous experience teaching adults. • (Desired) Bilingual in one of the following: Chinese and/or Spanish. Overview of Duties: • Collaborate with other teachers and staff members in a professional learning community to provide a welcoming and rigorous classroom environment for adult students. • Utilize available texts and online resources to provide instruction to students. • Proctor pre- and post-assessments and use assessment information to guide instruction. • Monitor and adjust instruction based on student progress and goals. • Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws or administrative policies.
