BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, provide instructional support and assistance to teachers and students assigned to a designated special education instructional program; perform a variety of support activities related to behavior management and classroom instruction of special education students; perform a variety of clerical support duties related to classroom and program activities. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: Graduation from high school or equivalent; experience working with children in an educational or child care setting; or any combination of training and experience that could likely provide the desired knowledge and abilities. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Some positions in this classification may require possession of a valid First Aid and CPR Certificate issued by an authorized agency. EXAMINATIONS: A written proficiency exam (weighted 60% of your score) and an oral interview (weighted 40% of your score) will be conducted. A passing score must be achieved on each portion of the exam. Final selection will be made from those who achieve the three highest ranking scores.
