 TEMPLETON UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT

 JOB DESCRIPTION 

CLASS TITLE:         TEACHER - CLASSROOM

 

DEFINITION:            The classroom teacher has the primary responsibility for the maximization of student learning.       

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

•     Establishes and maintains high expectations for student performance, progress, and conduct

•     Adjusts instruction and instructional materials to meet student needs

•     Submits copies of weekly lesson plans to site principal as requested

•     Utilizes long-range objectives in developing appropriate short-range objectives and writes daily lesson plans responsive to students' needs

•     Systematically corrects and returns student assignments in a timely manner

•     Maintains ongoing records of student progress which are utilized in instructional planning

•     Utilizes testing and program evaluation data from the previous school year in improving the instructional program

•     Makes learning objectives clear to students

•     Directs teaching to appropriate specific objectives

•     Models the learning expected whenever appropriate

•     Demonstrates a sequential development of fundamental skills

•     Monitors extent to which students understand the lesson by encouraging active student participation in lessons 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

      Knowledge of: 

•     Subject matter

•     District curriculum

•     District grade level expectancies and/or course descriptions in setting long-range objectives

•     Utilizing long-range objectives in developing appropriate short-range objectives, and writing daily lesson plans responsive to students' needs 

      Ability to

•     Communicate in writing for the purposes of composing all required reports and other correspondence

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

•     Valid California teaching credential.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS of this position are, but not limited to, the following: 

      Ability to:

•     Sit for extended periods of time

•     Stand in one area for extended periods of time

•     Stand and walk for extended periods of time

•     See for the purpose of reading student work, laws and codes, rules and policies, and other related matter, and observing students

•     Hear and understand speech at normal levels

•     Communicate so others will clearly understand normal conversation

•     Communicate using the telephone

•     Lift and carry 25 lbs

•     Think clearly and rationally to solve problems

•     Mental acuity to perform the essential functions of this position in an accurate, neat, timely fashion; to make good judgments and decisions; and to evaluate the results of decisions and judgments
