Under the general supervision of the Superintendent and the administrative direction of the Mendocino County Policy Council, plan, direct, manage, and oversee the activities, operations, and implementation of the Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA); coordinate SELPA activities with school districts, the Mendocino County Office of Education, and outside agencies; conduct annual reviews and provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the SELPA. Supervise and support the services of the Special Education department; assist in the development and implementation of the Special Education budget.

• Possess a valid California Administrative Services Credential; • A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university, with major course work in education or a related field; • A Doctorate degree is desirable; • Five (5) years of administrative experience in special education or related educational programs; • Experience or training in program and budget planning; staff and curriculum development; staff and program evaluation, and special education program administration. • Possess or obtain upon employment, a valid California Driver License; • Provide proof of automobile insurability; • Meet the physical requirements necessary to perform assigned duties safely and effectively, including lifting twenty-five (25) pounds on an occasional basis and in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds with assistance.
