With schools dating back to the 1870s, the award-winning Riverside Unified School District (RUSD) is now the 16th largest school district in California. RUSD educates nearly 42,000 students across 50 schools in Riverside. The District serves a large portion of Riverside as well as the unincorporated areas of Highgrove and Woodcrest. RUSD is led by its 12th Superintendent, Ms. Renee Hill and is governed by a Board of Education comprised of publicly elected officials who serve five different trustee areas.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) and five years director-level experience in a multi-unit management position related to food service or any combination equivalent to preferred education and experience in institutional food management. Complete knowledge of menu planning, quality food preparations, sanitation and safety and computer literacy is desirable.

BASIC FUNCTION: Under direction of the Deputy Superintendent, Business and Governmental Relations, plan, organize, direct, staff and manage the food services programs of the District including coordinating activities with school principals, administrators, PTA Council, community groups and assigned food service staff to provide nutritious healthy choice meal programs to the students of the District. KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Principles and methods of modern public and business administration in management. Objectives and operating techniques of a school district. Office management principles and practices. Basic financial procedures. Personnel administration and management. Federal and State laws regulating food service operations, purchasing and kitchen design. ABILITY TO: Plan, organize, and direct Food Service operations. Analyze situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action. Prepare clear and comprehensive reports. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Supervise and train assigned personnel. Establish and maintain effective relationships with other departments, parents, community, school administrators and other contract personnel.
