SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST Definition As a member of the Educational Services Division, shall be directly responsible to and under the supervision of the Administrative Assistant - Special Services. Essential Responsibilities 1. Design and development of psychological services, including on-the-job improvement of certificated personnel; 2. Consultation with school staff and parents regarding students with critical learning and/or behavior problems; 3. Conduct psychometric assessment for pupils considered for classes in Special Education Programs; 4. Conduct psychometric assessment for pupils considered for classes in the Gifted and Talented Program; 5. Certify eligibility of students recommended for admission to I.E.P. Teams for consideration for certification to Special Education Programs; 6. Serve as a resource to certificated personnel concerning psychological services in the District and make recommendations and suggestions relative to the improvement of the effectiveness of these services; 7. Conduct psychometric assessment for pupils considered to have adjustment problems; 8. Conduct conferences with parents of children with serious school adjustment problems; 9. Conduct pupil counseling sessions; 10. Serve as a member of the Student Placement Committee dealing with children with severe adjustment or educational problems; 11. Serve as resource person to school P.T.C. groups, community organizations, the local Mental Health Association or any other group of individuals interested in fostering mental health with the school age child; 12. Be the responsible person for making referrals of children with extreme emotional problems who cannot be adequately assisted by the specialists in the department of special education to outside agencies; act as the liaison person between the outside agency and the school; 13. Serve as a member of the Interdisciplinary Assessment Team and a staff member of the Prescriptive Learning Center. Ability Competence in the area of specialty. Experience Two years successful work experience in public schools preferably in the area of mental hygiene. Education Master's Degree preferred. Licenses 1. Appropriate professional certification; 2. California Driver's License. Other Shall have a vehicle for school business use.
