TITLE:  Campus Supervisor                                        REPORTS TO:  Principal

 

DEPARTMENT:                                                             CLASSIFICATION: Classified

 

BOARD APPROVAL:                                                     WORK YEAR: 180 days

 

                                                                                           SALARY:  Range 20

 

 

 

DEFINITION:

 

Under general supervision, to supervise students using school facilities before, during, after school; to patrol school areas, to include crosswalks, to insure the physical and moral welfare of students; and to do related work as required. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises and assists children before, during, and after school or the lunch period in the indoor or outdoor eating areas
  • Sees that children maintain their position in an orderly fashion in the lunch line
  • Supervises children in the multipurpose room and on the playground
  • Attempts to foresee and prevent dangerous situations or accidents from happening
  • Prevents rough and dangerous play activities and stops fights
  • Ensures that children stay on playground
  • Issues misconduct reports and reports special behavior problems
  • Encourages and promotes courtesy among children
  • Discusses behavior problems with the children and attempts to work out satisfactory solutions
  • Observes that safety rules are obeyed
  • Maintains order and proper discipline in the halls, on the playground, or wherever assigned
  • Contacts appropriate staff to see that children get first aid and assists in preparing accident reports when children are injured
  • Assists with the following duties as assigned: playground, indoor areas, bus/bicycle area, crossing guard; and performs other related work as required

 

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of:

 

  • Games and sports for children
  • Safety rules and habits
  • Standards of courtesy to be observed by children
  • First Aid

 

Ability to:

 

  • Supervise children before, during or after school and at play
  • Maintain acceptable standards of behavior among the children
  • Enlist the cooperation of students in the enforcement of rules and regulations
  • Understand and follow written and oral directions

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Completion of formal or informal education sufficient to assure the ability to read and write at the level required for successful job performance.

 

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade

 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish

  • Physical mobility sufficient to move about the work environment (classroom, office, district, from school or home, site-to-site
  • Physical strength sufficient to lift 25 pounds
  • Physical stamina sufficient to sit, stand or walk for prolonged periods of time: ability to run in emergency situations
  • Mental acuity to collect and interpret data, evaluate, reason, define problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, make valid judgments and decisions.
