The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County’s most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment. Information Technology Mission Statement: Leverage technology to simplify, enhance, and provide innovative business and educational solutions. Our commitment is to provide creative and collaborative ideas by implementing and incorporating technology with our customers. We are seeking a dynamic Network Specialist to perform difficult and responsible support and administration functions for computers and peripheral equipment. This position will install and configure computers and other devices by providing technical support for employee and student devices throughout OCDE. The individual selected will also provide problem resolution and technical support services to customers for the operation and use of personal computer and peripheral equipment.
Any combination of education, training, and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way of obtaining the knowledge and abilities would be: Education: Associate’s degree in computer technology or a closely related field. Experience: Five years of progressively responsible experience in computer systems, network, and/or customer support in an information systems operating environment. At least one year of which involved network administration and/or support. There are supplemental questions in the application.
