Job Description Teacher for Grades 4th Grade Make a Difference at Wilder’s Preparatory Academy Charter School “Who are we? We are Wilder’s!” Located in the heart of Inglewood, California, Wilder’s Preparatory Academy Charter School, co-founded by Mr. and Mrs. Raymond and Carolyn Wilder in 2003 exemplifies excellence in education. A kindergarten through eighth grade independent charter school, Wilder’s upholds the philosophy that all students can learn. The esteemed administration, faculty, and staff recognize the need to offer a high-quality education, critical to meeting student learning needs, advocating for each individual student with consideration to their special characteristics and talents. We build the future. Wilder’s is recognized for its students’ top performance on standardized assessments. Students at the elementary level meet or exceed the standard by 80% in ELA and 67% in Math. Students at the middle school level meet or exceed the standard by 74% in ELA and 49% in Math. While elementary students exceed the state performance in ELA by 45% and in Math by 40%, students at the middle school level exceed the state in ELA by 48% and Math by 37%. Wilder’s Preparatory Academy Charter School ranked #1 out of 279 other top schools throughout Los Angeles County that are also closing the achievement gap for African American and Latino students. The list of schools is published in a new study, Top Los Angeles County Public Schools for Underserved Students 2019, by Innovate Public Schools – Los Angeles, a non-profit organization committed to helping kids and their families access quality education, in collaboration with the University of Southern California (USC) Sol Price Center for Social Innovation and the Rossier School of Education. The 279 schools in Los Angeles County were recognized out of 2,068 public schools for their work to help students succeed and increase college eligibility. Wilder’s is currently seeking team oriented, highly qualified credentialed teacher. We are seeking kindergarten, first grade, third grade, fourth grade, fifth grade, as well as a middle school physical education teacher. Responsibilities Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following: Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active, engaging learning for all students. Establish and communicate clear learning targets for all learning activities according to Common Core Standards. Instruct and monitor students with the use of appropriate learning materials and equipment. Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction. Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures with a structured behavior management system. Uphold the school culture, reflective of the “Wilder Way” in daily routines and procedures. Provide appropriate feedback on assignments, projects and assessments. Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies. Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development. Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, state policies and school regulations. Prepare required reports on students and activities. Participate in department, school, and parent meetings. Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs. Prepare classroom for class activities daily. Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities. Observe and evaluate students’ performance and development as well as track growth on formal and informal assessments. Administer, assess and provided feedback on summative and formative assessments. Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments. Other functions of the job include but are not limited to the following: Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds. Must have the ability and proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
