Requirements for Applying Materials Qualified applicants must possess a valid California teaching credential or be eligible for a Substitute Teaching Permit. •CBEST (California Basic Education Skills Test). Applicants who have not worked in a certificated position for a California public school district within the last 39 months must include a copy of their CBEST verification card with their application. •A Bachelor’s degree and CBEST verification are required for the Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit. Our Special Education Classes are located throughout Orange County. Our programs operate year round and are designed to provide functional instruction for students between the ages of 3 and 22 who have been identified as needing intensive educational services. It is the goal of the programs and services to emphasize the teaching of skills that are functional and critical to the needs of these students. Whenever possible, interaction with non-disabled peers is promoted. The Special Centers serve students who are severely to profoundly medically or neurologically and/or severely physically disabled. Instruction typically emphasizes daily living skills including communication, socialization, mobility, recreation/leisure, vocational, and community skills. The Special Classes emphasize communication, vocational training, and functional academic skills with a behavior management emphasis. We are seeking motivated and dedicated individuals wanting to serve as Substitute Adapted PE Teachers for our Special Education Division. Substitutes work on an on-call, as needed basis.
