DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the Secondary Director of Curriculum & Instruction, the CTE TOSA will coordinate CTE related programs and assist in the development of business and community partnerships to support those programs. The CTE TOSA will work collaboratively with school sites, career centers, the CTE Advisory Council, and the business community to increase post-secondary career/work-based opportunities for students. The CTE TOSA will facilitate information related to student internships, student participation in R.O.P. courses, articulation with MSJCC, and career pathways at each comprehensive high school.

DUTIES

•Support the Secondary Director with coordination of State and Federal Career Development programs and services including the development of new courses and programs
•Provide leadership and staff development to implement curriculum development, integration of state standards and curriculum content standards into career-related curriculum
•Assist and/or coordination of major student events related to the area of K-12 and Adult Education Career Development: job fairs, career outreach, guest speakers, and mentorship programs
•Coordinate with district staff and school site communities, community colleges, county/state officials to ensure articulated goals and objectives: Partnership Academies, R.O.P., Workability programs, WIA, Work Experience Education, and Adult Transition Programs for students with special needs
•Meet and assist with the development and implementation of career centers at secondary schools
•Disseminate information regarding Career and Technical Education and development programs through a variety of media
•Publish a CTE newsletter three times a year to publicize information to students, parents, and the business community
•Coordinate the Career Technical Education and Development Advisory Council
•Assist in all career development activities as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

•Knowledge of: principles, techniques, strategies, trends, goals, and objectives of a comprehensive curriculum and instructional service program, career development, and legislation pertaining to vocational and career education
•Ability to: effectively and efficiently plan, organize, and implement assignment areas; provide support, assistance, and expertise in resolving unforeseen difficulties; communicate effectively in oral and written form; establish and maintain effective organizational, community, and public relationships; develop, utilize, and implement a team concept in the decision-making process; and provide staff development in the CTE area

DESIRABLE:

•M.A. degree
•Previous district-wide experiences in a leadership capacity
•Previous site experiences in the area of Career & Technical Education
•Knowledge of transition services for special education students
•Knowledge of assistive technology needed for special education students
•Administrative credential
