          POSITION: Substitute Custodian, on-call sub pool. Job Shifts are typically 7:45am to 4:15pm and 2:30pm to 11pm (greater need for this shift) . Both are 8 hours with 1/2 hour unpaid lunch. DEFINITION: One who accomplishes all tasks necessary to keep assigned buildings and grounds clean, sanitary and orderly. 2:30pm to 11pm shift may require travel between two schools. SUPERVISOR: Building Principal and Maintenance Supervisor TYPICAL TASKS: Sweeps, mops, strips and waxes floors, washes walls and woodwork, cleans toilet rooms and replenishes supplies; scours tile; cleans light fixtures; replaces light bulbs; cleans windows and mirrors; accomplishes minor repairs to classroom fixtures and furniture; cleans playgrounds; cleans desks; adjusts drinking fountains; cleans tanbark play area; accomplishes emergency maintenance repairs in buildings such as (1) replacement of broken window panes (2) secures damaged doors or windows, and (3) adjustment of door closers; accomplishes emergency plumbing jobs such as freeing of stopped toilets and plugged drains and shutting-off water pipes if burst, and related work as required. Knowledge of: Basic cleaning methods; procedures and techniques; cleaning materials, supplies and equipment; safe working methods and procedures. Ability to: Perform moderately heavy manual activities; efficiently and effectively use cleaning materials, supplies and equipment; understand and carry out written directions; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships Experience: six months of experience involved with the care and cleaning of buildings and facilities. Education: Completion of formal or informal education sufficient to assure the ability to read and write at the level required for successful job performance.
