Job Summary

Natomas Unified School District is seeking an Assistant Superintendent for the Office of the Chief Academic Officer. The Assistant Superintendent in Schools will assist the Chief Academic Officer in effectively providing leadership for the development, achievement, and maintenance of quality educational programs in our elementary and TK-8 schools. The Assistant Superintendent is responsible for creating a system of accountability based upon a needs assessments, utilizing a DEI lens, aligned with district vision and core values to create responsible site leaders. This role will provide strategic oversight to our elementary and TK-8 supervisors of schools, and will become familiar with each of our sites, as well as be responsible for supporting each site’s growth and achievement. Our elementary/TK-8 schools offer a wide variety of programs and initiatives to support our students, including International Baccalaureate PYP and MYP, AVID, Responsive Classroom, Restorative Practices, PBIS, and STEAM. This position will be under the supervision of the Chief Academic Officer.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities could qualify someone for this position. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Education: Equivalent to a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in education, education administration, public administration or a related field. Experience: Five years of increasingly responsible experience in education, including at least two years of administrative experience at the Principal level or higher, or the equivalent.
